(NewsNation) — Multiple people were killed when a gunman opened fire Tuesday inside a Walmart in southeast Virginia, police said.
The call reporting the shooting in the city of Chesapeake came in just after 10 p.m., NewsNation affiliate WAVY reported.
Police told reporters during a media briefing they believe the shooter is dead and that fewer than 10 people were believed to be killed. At least one person was dead outside the store.
Officers were still investigating the scene as of 11 p.m. CT.
