Netflix’s latest original series, “Kaleidoscope,” starts streaming on January 1. The unique heist drama features a non-linear story, so you can watch episodes in any order leading up to the finale.
The show focuses on a group of thieves who plot to rob a vault worth $7 billion. To pull off the elaborate heist they’ll have to deal with conflicts within the team and outside threats like the FBI. The plot spans 25 years, with parts of the story set before, during, and after the robbery.

“Kaleidoscope” stars Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Jai Courtney, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Niousha Noor, Jordan Mendoza, Soojeong Son, Max Casella, and Hemky Madera. The series comes from creator Eric Garcia, who is best known for writing the 2002 novel “Matchstick Men.”
How to watch ‘Kaleidoscope’
You can watch “Kaleidoscope” exclusively on Netflix starting January 1. All eight episodes of the series will be available to stream on that date.

“Kaleidoscope” features a non-linear story that is designed to let members watch episodes in any order leading up to the finale. Each episode is named after a color, and Netflix will randomly create an order for each viewer to stream the series in. That said, the final episode will always be the episode titled “White.”
Though episodes jump around in the show’s timeline, they’re designed to inform each other, allowing different viewing orders to create slightly different audience experiences.

Is Kaleidoscope based on a true story?
According to creator Eric Garcia, “Kaleidoscope” is very loosely inspired by “something that might have happened.” After hurricane Sandy, the basement of the DTCC got flooded with $70 billion worth of bonds, and Garcia thought that could sever as a clever cover-up idea for a heist, which helped inspire the plot of the show.
