Russian troops attempted to land on the Kozatsky island near Kherson. However, the assault was a failure for the Russians, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Vladyslav Voloshyn.
Ukraine’s military noted that in the Prydniprovsk direction, the enemy continues both assault actions and shelling.
“Over the past day, they (Russians – ed.) continued attempting to land on Kozatsky island. However, they were unsuccessful, could not land, and suffered losses in equipment,” said the spokesperson.
According to Voloshyn, boats, watercraft, and military personnel were among the enemy’s losses.
As the reports indicate, the islands at the mouth of the Dnipro River, which essentially marks the dividing line between the right-bank and left-bank parts of the Kherson region, are in the so-called “gray zone” of combat operations. The occupiers are trying to seize control over them, which would help them consolidate their position on the right bank.

Situation in Kherson region
Kherson is the only regional center that the Russians temporarily occupied. In 2022, Ukrainian forces liberated Kherson and the right-bank part of the Kherson region.
However, Russian troops continue daily shelling of liberated Ukrainian territories.
According to local authorities, Russian occupiers have intensified shelling of the Kherson region lately. Sabotage groups have also become more active, attempting to infiltrate and establish themselves in the right-bank part of the region.
