Italy has announced a contribution of €13 million to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund. The aid is aimed at restoring the country’s energy infrastructure, which has been damaged by Russian attacks, according to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was noted that the decision was made on the directive of Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani.

According to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this contribution is one of the largest among donor countries and aims to stabilize electricity supply for millions of Ukrainians enduring the hardships of war.

Italy emphasized that this support is a significant step in efforts to restore energy systems that have suffered severe damage due to numerous attacks by Russian forces.

“Italy’s contribution – one of the largest by a single country – will help stabilise electricity supplies to millions of war-affected Ukrainians at this difficult time,” the statement from the ministry reads.

It was also reported that Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund continues to function effectively as Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities persist.

” Italy’s donation is a sign of global solidarity and underlines the Fund’s undoubted importance in providing timely and effective assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector,” the Italian ministry highlighted.

Italy’s support for Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Italy has become one of Ukraine’s key partners in Europe, consistently providing not only financial but also technical support.

Italy has contributed to the supply of defensive equipment to Ukraine, including air defense systems, artillery installations, and armored vehicles.

Additionally, the Italian government has allocated significant resources to support Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in the country. Italy has created programs for social adaptation and integration.

Italy also helps Ukraine restore critical infrastructure, as well as schools, hospitals, and other socially significant facilities damaged by Russian shelling.

Previously, Italy supported the continued supply of weapons to Ukraine.
