On December 6, Georgia will have a runoff between the top two candidates in their Senate race – incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker, whose candidacy has been a headache for the GOP from day one – to the degree that the party has begged the former guy to stay away from Georgia in the hope that they can win the seat.

The problem is that Walker had an advantage in the first round as people came out in droves to support incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp who was also on the ballot – and they don’t have anything like that this time. The other problem for Republicans aside from finding someone respectable who will stump for Walker is that Senate control has already been decided.

This might lead some people to be complacent – but there’s a major reason to do all you can for Rev. Warnock as the first round of voting begins – aside from giving Democrats a 51-49 majority in the Senate. While Warnock has President Obama coming to campaign for him, Walker is campaigning with notorious homophobe Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson.

Coming on the heels of the anti-LGBTQ massacre in Colorado Springs, it’s obvious Walker is sending a message – he’s a homophobic bigot who’s unfit to govern. We cannot look the other way while the GOP is actively engaging in dangerous rhetoric – we need to come out in droves to defeat it and send a message as clear as the one sent on Nov 8.
