The daughter of notorious serial killer BTK has revealed that she felt sick when she learned that Bryan Kohberger had studied her father as part of his criminology studies.

Mr Kohberger went to DeSales University in Pennsylvania where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2020 and completed his graduate studies in June 2022.

At the university, he studied under renowned forensic psychologist Katherine Ramsland who interviewed the BTK serial killer and co-wrote the book Confession of a Serial Killer: The Untold Story of Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer with him.

Dennis Rader – who nicknamed himself BTK – confessed to murdering 10 people in the Wichita, Kansas area between 1974 and 1991.

His daughter Kerri Rawson told NewsNation that her “stomach turned” when she learned about the link between her serial killer father and the man now accused of murdering four University of Idaho students.

“Personally my first reaction was just like my stomach turned and I literally physically got ill knowing that there was now a connection back to Ramsland and she connects to my father. It was just a lot,” she said.

“Well, obviously we know he studied my father in criminology classes.”

She added that it was possible that Mr Kohberger could even have been in contact with her father.

“He probably studied him heavier since he had Ramsland as a professor but we need to find out if there’s a deeper connection,” she said.

“It’s hard to be the kid of this guy and live with this. You know? And then see somebody else go do this and wonder did your dad influence him? Did your dad talk to him? Was he studying my father outside of academics? Am I ever going to get answers to that? I don’t know.”

A neighbour of the man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students has revealed that the PhD student seemed to never sleep and would make a lot of noise during the night.

The resident, how lives in the apartment below Bryan Kohberger in Pullman, Washington state, told The New York Post that she would hear the 28-year-old suspect at odd hours of the day.

“He’s normally a very late night person, going to the bathroom and vacuuming at 1 or 12 in the morning,” she said.

“I have kids, so sometimes I thought of speaking to him or complaining, but never did.

“It seemed like he never slept because he was always doing something all night.”

Despite his somewhat unusual behaviour, she said she was shocked to learn of his arrest for the brutal murders of the four Idaho students.

“I don’t know how he could’ve killed people because he doesn’t look that tough,” she said.

“We are all PhD students here so it takes a lot of hard work and smarts to get to this point. You don’t think someone like that could do something like this.”

The motive for the murders of the four University of Idaho students remains unclear.

Bryan Kohberger, 28, was arrested on Friday accused of stabbing the four victims to death back on 13 November.

Mr Kohberger was a PhD student in criminology at Washington State University – living and working around 10 miles from the home where the murders took place.

Moscow Police have kept the details about what led them to the suspect under wraps and the criminal complaint will remain sealed until Mr Kohberger is extradited back to Idaho.

No obvious link has been found between the victims and the suspected killer and it is unclear if he knew any of the four students prior to the murders.

However, Kaylee Goncalves’ father Steve Goncalves told ABC News that he had found unnamed connections between the suspect and the daughter – but was not ready to reveal what these potential ties are.

The Washington State University Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology has released a statement following the arrest of one of its graduate students on suspicion of a horrific quadruple homicide.

“The Department  of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University is aggrieved by the alleged horrendous acts of one of its graduate students,” the department said.

“We are relieved that justice will be carried out. Our hearts are with the victims’ families.”

Mr Kohberger was a PhD student in the department.

He began the graduate criminology program in August and had just completed his first semester.

His apartment and PhD office in Pullman, Washington State, are only around 10 miles from the home where the four students were murdered.

The family of the accused killer of four University of Idaho students has broken its silence for the first time following his bombshell arrest on Friday.

Bryan Kohberger, a criminal justice PhD student at Washington State University, is accused of breaking into a student home in Moscow, Idaho, on 13 November and brutally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin to death in their beds.

On Sunday, the 28-year-old’s family released a statement saying they “care deeply” for the victims and their families but will continue to support their son and brother as the legal process moves forward.

“First and foremost we care deeply for the four families who have lost their precious children. There are no words that can adequately express the sadness we feel, and we pray each day for them,” the family said in a statement released by his public defender Jason LaBar.

“We will continue to let the legal process unfold and as a family we will love and support our son and brother.

“We have fully cooperated with law enforcement agencies in an attempt to seek the truth and promote his presumption of innocence rather than judge unknown facts and make erroneous assumptions. We respect privacy in this matter as our family and the families suffering loss can move forward through the legal process.”

Former friends of a PhD criminology student accused of murdering four University of Idaho students have described him as a socially awkward, bullied and academically gifted young man who had a personality shift in high school.

Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was taken into custody in Pennsylvania early Friday in connection to the quadruple murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin following an investigation by the Moscow Police Department, the FBI and Idaho State Police.

According to the Washington State University website, Mr Kohberger is a PhD graduate student in the criminal justice and criminology department in Pullman, Washington, around nine miles west of Moscow, where the students lived and were murdered.

In the aftermath of the breakthrough arrest nearly seven weeks after the brutal stabbings, former friends and acquaintances of Mr Kohberger have come forward with details about his personality and his troubled past marked by heroin addiction and weight struggles.

In a press conference on Friday, Moscow Police said that more information about the circumstances leading up to the arrest would be released once Mr Kohberger appears in court in Idaho, as his arrest warrant will remain sealed until then following state law.

Mr Kohbrger’s attorney Monroe County Chief Public Defender Jason LaBar has since revealed that the University of Washington PhD criminology student intends to waive his 3 January extradition hearing in the Keystone state to expedite his return to Idaho.

After enduring weeks of criticism for seemingly not advancing in the investigation into the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, the Moscow Police Department announced it had made a surprise arrest with the help of the FBI and Pennsylvania police.

Moscow investigators had remained tight-lipped about developments in the case, often citing the integrity of the information as the reasoning behind the measure. However, many doubted that it was the department’s small size and “lack of experience” behind information not being released.

Even after Washington University criminology grad student Brian Kohberger was arrested in the early morning hours of Friday, the department has yet to reveal whether the suspect knew the victims and other specifics of the case.

Chief James Fry said during a press conference on Friday that more information will be released when Mr Kohberger has his first court appearance in Idaho.

Meanwhile, dozens of Facebook users have taken to the department’s comment section to commend the department for its professionalism and hard work.

“So impressed with this arrest. There were so many that said the case would go cold because of the length of time it took. But those of us that have law enforcement family or experience knew, it takes time,” one user commented.

Another user wrote: “I have no idea how these investigations work. However, watching the news conference, listening very close, listening to different things on the news coverage, you’re department knew one heck of a lot more, a heck of a lot earlier, than you let on.”

Authorities captured 28-year-old PhD student Bryan Kohberger at a property in Albrightsville, Pennslyvania, in the early hours of Friday and he now faces extradition to Idaho to face four murder charges.

In a press conference on Friday announcing the arrest, Moscow Police Chief James Fry said that investigators believe they have the sole person responsible for the killings in custody.

“We have an individual in custody who committed these horrible crimes and I do believe our community is safe, but we still need to be vigilant,” he said.

Thirty-four-year-old Jordan Serulnec, who owns Seven Sirens Brewing Company in Bethlehem, PA, told NBC News in a report published this weekend that Mr Kohberger was known for making inappropriate comments to female customers and staff.

The business has a system that allows staff to add notes to customers’ profiles when their IDs are scanned. After he read what his employees had written about Mr Kohberger, Mr Serulnec decided to confront the now-accused murderer.
