There are no visitor logs at President Joe Biden’s Delaware home where batches of classified documents were discovered, said administration spokesman Ian Sams.
“Like every president in decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal,” Sams on Sunday told the Associated Press. Republicans requested information on who had visited the Wilmington home where more classified documents were found Saturday in a storage room adjacent to the garage.
Reports first emerged Tuesday that Biden possessed classified documents at his Washington, D.C., office at the Penn Biden Center think tank. The White House later announced on Thursday that aides discovered additional documents at the president’s Delaware residence. Hunter Biden lived in the house in 2018 and 2019, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
The media hammered then-president Donald Trump for not keeping visitor logs at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. Biden promised the “highest standard of transparency” on the campaign trail.
Sams, who is sometimes referred to as the “Forrest Gump of political failure,” started at the White House last May after a stint at the Department of Health and Human Services as a “senior leader” on the administration’s pandemic response. He faced criticism just months before for questioning the vaccine’s safety because it was developed during the Trump administration.
Before joining the White House, Sams worked on several failed Democratic campaigns: He served as national press secretary for Kamala Harris’s disastrous presidential campaign and as communications director for Tom Perriello’s unsuccessful run in Virginia’s gubernatorial race.
Sams was also regional communications director for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in three of the biggest upset states: Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. He rose to notoriety during that election cycle for sporting a “Grillary Clinton” apron.
