4 dead after shooting incident in Half Moon Bay, California

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (NewsNation) — At least four people died as a result of a shooting incident in Half Moon Bay, California, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed just before 5 p.m. local time that the suspect was in custody, and there was “no ongoing threat to the community at this time.”

“The Sheriff’s Office is responding to a shooting incident with multiple victims in the area of HWY 92 and the HMB City limits,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office tweeted on Monday.

NewsNation affiliate KRON, in San Francisco, California, has confirmed that CalFire’s San Mateo Santa Cruz Unit was responding to the shooting.

“Gun violence has come to our district today and I will do whatever I can to support the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department and Half Moon Bay city officials during this tragic event. We will continue to monitor this situation. My thoughts go out to all affected,” California State Senator Josh Becker said on Twitter.

Traffic is currently being redirected, and drivers are asked to use alternative routes, according to the Pacifica Police Department.
