People discussing these subjects these days have very different positions and points of view, but they agree on one thing:Ā
There is something deeply wrong with the FBI and the way it functions (or, more correctly, dis-functions), and this has to be fixed, or the FBI has to be abolished and replaced with the more viable and efficient organization.Ā
The DHS, with all the recently reported problems of their own, appears to be more modern and better equipped psychologically and professionally, for example. The FBI has to get rid of its old Hooverian baggage.Ā
My impression is that the FBI, although founded in the beginning of the last century, in 1908, really acquired its powers in the early 1930-s, with theĀ onset of the Great Depression, when the ruling classes were mortally scared of the social unrest and they hired an army of thugs via the Hoover’s offices to maintain the social order by the hook and by the crook. These are the origins of the thuggish character and the nature of the FBI, in my humble opinion, which persist to these days and became their psychological backbone which grew out of their raison d’ĆŖtre.Ā
All citizens’ complaints and reports of the FBI abuses and malfeasance, which I believe, on the basis of my observations, have the systematic and the systemic character, have to be investigated very thoroughly. Maybe, the independent bipartisan standing Congressional Committee is needed for these purposes. The current situation with the FBI will be ignored at this society’s own peril.Ā
