Blue Basin and the John Day Fossil Beds interpretive center (actually called the Tomas Condon paleontology center or something). Blue Basin is, in my opinion, more interesting than the painted hills. The easy trail is only 1.3 miles out and back, and pretty flat. (The longer trail that goes up and around the rim is a bit more intense) Reply reply
